Introduccion
During the manufacture of components for high-temperature service, a normalize and temper (N&T) heat treatment is often required to restore properties of the component. This occurs most when components are fabricated with longitudinal seams but can occur when fabrication practices damage the base material, as is the case when the lower critical temperature is exceded during post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) operations or during hot forming. Weld metals are formulized to provide adequate service in the subcritical PWHT condition. Long-term properties for weld metal subjected to this elevated temperature heat treatment are not available. This project seeks to develop data for this application.
